ANANAS: FONTE DI BROMELINA Ecosalute

PINEAPPLE: SOURCE OF BROMELAIN

Bromelain is an enzyme that is found inside both the fruit and the stem of the pineapple ( Ananas comosus ) where it is most present. In reality it is a set of digestive enzymes with proteolytic activity, that is, deputies to the action of digesting proteins into free amino acids.

PINEAPPLE

Pineapple is the fruit from which bromelain is extracted. It has long been used in folk medicine as a digestive and cosmetic. It is a fruit rich in sugars, organic acids and vitamins such as vitamin A, B vitamins and vitamin C.

With a sweet taste with a tendency to final acid, it acts in TCM by strengthening the spleen-stomach-pancreas system and its color confirms this. In fact, the loggia to which it belongs, the land, is characterized by the yellow color. It has a refreshing action as it purifies the tissues from excess heat by dissolving wind-humidity symptoms such as retention and edematous accumulations.

HISTORY OF BROMELAIN

For over 50 years, precisely since 1957, bromelain has been used in the therapeutic field and since then many studies have been carried out to demonstrate its efficacy and effects.

In particular, digestive , anti- inflammatory and antithrombotic properties have been demonstrated.

PROPERTY'

  • Digestive properties: It can replace both pepsin and trypsin, enzymes found in the gastric juices of the stomach and pancreas. Thanks to the wide pH spectrum in which it remains active, it can digest proteins both in the stomach and in the small intestine.
  • Anti- inflammatory properties : Bromelain activates fibrinolysis, causing digestion of fibrin and preventing venous stasis . This stasis is caused by fibrin clots and local edema. A decreased ability to destroy fibrin hardens the skin giving it the "orange peel" appearance (due to fibrin and fat). Bromelain is able to reduce edema and consequent pain.
  • Antithrombotic properties : The proteolytic enzymes (bromelain, papain, protease), directly attack the thrombus by opening the blocked vessels. In this way, they restore blood circulation, preventing thrombosed phlebitis and more serious disorders.

BROMELAIN

The gdu (gelatine digestion unit) is the unit of measurement used to indicate the "potency" of bromelain . all supplements titrated in bromelain must therefore report the gdu / g ratio. This indicates the ability of the enzyme to "break down" proteins. The higher the gdu value, the more effective the enzyme activity will be.
