For some decades the quality of life has improved, and with it the average duration of life itself has also increased: today we live longer and age better.

But what does it mean to grow old?

First of all it means changing: the human body begins to do so already from the age of 30; but that's not all!

Getting older is also about reacting and adapting to these changes.

Aging is a continuous process that has been going on since the beginning of life; it involves all the structures of the organism: cells, tissues and organs leading, beyond a certain age, to the progressive loss of functionality. It is a phenomenon determined by genetic factors and influenced by external agents.

What are the causes of aging?

In fact, the way everyone ages depends on the genetic makeup and on certain factors, called epigenetic factors, which influence the way in which a gene is expressed and a person ages. These factors represent an individual's lifestyle.

It is no coincidence that the importance of a healthy diet and physical activity is always emphasized, at any age.

But what are really the causes? There are two different theories about it:

According to the theory of free radicals , aging is due to the harmful action of free radicals, toxic waste substances produced by normal cellular metabolism, while according to that of biological clocks, the organs that are under the control of the hormonal system are progressively encountered. to a sort of senescence, due to the slowdown in the activity of the latter.

Both of these theories are valid and supported by numerous studies, so much so that we tend to think they are complementary.

Nature helps to age well

While very little can be done to help the now slowed hormonal system, there are several practical solutions that can be implemented from the point of view of the fight against free radicals.

In addition to adopting, if not yet followed, a healthy lifestyle characterized by regular motor activity and a varied and balanced diet, the most effective remedy is certainly to resort to the intake of foods known for their ability to fight free radicals: the famous antioxidants.

Often, however, it is not possible to take sufficient and appreciable quantities of these molecules through the diet.

Here then is that the integration proves to be providential to make up for the shortage of antioxidants introduced with the normal diet!

Among the substances known for their antioxidant power, vitamin C certainly cannot be missing.

Natural antioxidant par excellence, this water-soluble vitamin counteracts the action and the production of free radicals , repairs the cellular damage caused by the latter and is involved in a series of indispensable functions for the body (such as the absorption of some minerals and the proper functioning of the immune system ).

Excellent remedy against skin aging too, it is in fact a molecule essential for the production of collagen , a fundamental constituent of the dermis, (the connective tissue that nourishes and supports the epidermis), whose synthesis decreases over the years.

Find an excellent supply of vitamin C in Natural Vitamin C , where the vitamin C present is obtained from natural sources such as Rosehip and Acerola.
