Most of the Italian population ... is Vitamin D deficient!
WHY VITAMIN D3?
Because it contributes to the fixation of calcium and phosphorus in bones and teeth and to the regulation of the immune and nervous system , muscle contraction and cell growth.
The very definition "vitamin" is not entirely appropriate, it is in fact a hormone produced in the skin when it is hit by the right amount of ultraviolet sunlight and, subsequently, activated at the level of the kidneys and liver.
PARTICULARLY AT RISK FOR VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY ARE:
Children: more and more accustomed to playing at home with video games and less accustomed to sun exposure. Breast-fed babies were particularly deficient since the milk they had taken was already deficient.
Elderly people: especially the people forced into the house are practically never exposed to sunlight and even when they were their body is no longer able to metabolize it. This leads to frequent osteoporosis which, connected to the lower physical strength, increases the ease of falls and the difficulty in bone regeneration.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women : often women who breastfeed, despite integrating the intake of vitamin D, are deficient, since it is passed directly to the child.
Menopausal women: because with the variation of the hormonal picture, usually, the physiological degenerative process of the bone structure is accelerated. This can lead to frailty and a significant increase in the likelihood of fracturing bone.
Overweight people : Vitamin D is fat-soluble, therefore it tends to be absorbed in fat cells and stored within them. Those who suffer from obesity have a greater number of fat cells, consequently a greater distribution of vitamin D within them, which is therefore deficient in the kidneys and intestines.
