It is an evergreen plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is known for its beautiful purple flowers with a fresh and intense scent.
The name lavender stems from washing; in fact in the past it was used to perfume lyes and baths; today lavender and its essence are used in wardrobes to perfume linen and repel insects. It is also very popular in cosmetics for its calming properties.
The essential oil of lavender it is obtained from the leaves of the homonymous plant and its main component is 1-8-cineole.
